Biography
In the summer of 2001 Evilsons was founded by four youngsters. Patu, Mikke, Tom and Fredi knew each other from years back and had played together in several different line-ups. Their taste of music varied from punk and ska to reggae, and they intuitionally started to mix all these in their own music as Evilsons.
In January 2001 the band recorded a five-song EP "De Mysteriis dom Skathanas" , released by the Canadian record company AMP-records. The EP was sold out twice and helped the band to create a respectable name in the scene. "All I Do" from the EP got on the play lists’ of radio stations and actually achieved a number one position at Radio X3M’s (nationwide) official chart. Some 60 shows were played everywhere between the small town of Lieksa in Finland and the European cities Copenhagen, Hamburg and Prague.
In the beginning of 2003 Evilsons were invited to join Sitruunamaailma booking agency and proposals to play started to flood in. Evilsons even got the chance to play with great bands like USCB Allstars, Voice of a Generation, Nine, Randy and Misconduct. (In 2004 Evilsons signed a deal with Welldone bookings, which is the biggest booking agency in Finland) At the end of 2003 the band signed to Fullhouse Records, a label that earlier mostly had been releasing heavier hardcore-music. This for its part proves how Evilsons has managed to break boundaries between different music genres, and can be enjoyed by listeners with different musical taste and background. Achieving this of course is possible only if you are ambitious enough and remember not to forget the glimpse in the corner of your eye. Due to the tight schedule with the shows, the recording sessions had to wait until February 2004 when Evilsons finally had the chance to hit the studio to record their debut full-length album. But as it has been said; you never wait too long if you wait for something good. "Petas City Rockers" has proved this saying right as the 11 featured tracks (+ 2 bonus-songs) of absolutely exuberant ska-punk even make the most rigid Finn dance ‘til the brisk of dawn.
