In the beginning...
Spiritus Sancti was formed autumn 2001 from the former cover band Entomorph, a five piece band. But since the songs became harder and harder, all members except TG and Adde quit. TG and Adde continued playing though, just for fun. About four months later they found the very skilful drummer Westman, who joined the band. After a while vocalist Boris, and bass player Steve joined up.
Spiritus Sancti had formed.
First blood
The band had it's first live performance in December 2001, but without guitarist TG who couldn't participate due to military duties. Beside this gig, Spiritus Sancti did many other gigs. One of the bigger ones were the gig with Entombed and Mustasch.
In February 2002 the first demo was recorded in Studio Cave, Fagersta. The demo contained 5 songs, and received pretty good reviews. Later in March Spiritus Sancti performed live in Helsinki, Finland, which interested the record company Fullhouse records. The band received a record contract offer, and decided to release their first album on Fullhouse records. The debute album contained the five demo songs which had been recorded in Februar, and three new songs recorded in the same studio. The album sold well, and Spiritus Sancti was in a way made a name in the Scandinavian HC and metal scene.
During spring and summer a big amount of gigs were performed.
Second cut
In November bass player Hannes joined the group, and Steve picked the third guitar instead. The 14th of December they had another gig with Entombed, and Adde decided to quit the band due to the fact that he didn't think it was that fun anymore. In January 2003 Spiritus Sancti hit Finland again, and did a couple of awesome gigs.
In May 2003, studio Cave was annihalated once again. The promo "Silence of the Angel Choir" was recorded, and sent out as a promo record. Later on the promo also was sold as a demo.
The first end
The 9th of September 2003 Boris and TG decided to quit Spiritus Sancti due to lack of time and motivation. Spiritus Sancti had dissolved. Instead Steve, Westman and Hannes formed a new band called The Hatred which had one live performance.
Resurrection
In the very early January of 2004 the guys of the former Spiritus Sancti decided to start the engines and rock some shit once again. Hannes also decided to quit the band due to lack of time, and instead of him Chris joined the band and took care of the bass playing. Chris had earlier been stand-in bass player on tours, so the choice was easy. Here we are now, ready to crack some bottles and rock like hell!
Right now we are rehearsing 9 new songs, that hopefully will be recorded in early August. In Studio Cave, of course. |
